If you put petrol in a diesel engine
If you put petrol in a diesel engine? The most common misfuel by a wide margin. Do not start the engine — it is drained, flushed and primed on site. Call 01293 248666 — a mobile technician comes to the vehicle anywhere across TS1 and TS3 to TS8. Call-out £89 to £199, drain £199 to £1,999.
A local number, not a local building
The number at the top of this page is answered by the people who send technicians to Middlesbrough. That is what the word local is doing here. It is not standing in for a depot, because Wrong Fuel Middlesbrough does not have one — the van comes to TS1 and TS3 to TS8 and the work happens where you are stood. Call 01293 248666.

If you put petrol in a diesel engine: what to do
The most common misfuel, and the one with the most to lose by starting the engine.
Following the fuel from filler to injector
Picture the route. Filler neck, tank, a lift pump drawing from the bottom, a filter catching debris, then the high-pressure pump squeezing fuel to enormous pressure for the injectors. Wrong fuel is harmless at the start of that route and expensive at the end of it. Only running the engine moves it along.
Step by step
- Stop. Do not turn the key Whatever else happens, this is the decision that matters. Contamination only travels under power.
- Resist the urge to move it The instinct is to get out of the way. Unless you are somewhere dangerous, staying put is the cheaper instinct to follow.
- Safety before diagnosis If you are on a live carriageway, get out and get behind the barrier, and let the police or National Highways deal with the lane first.
- Phone 01293 248666 You will be asked four questions and given a price and an arrival window. Both are honest rather than flattering.
- On-site extraction The tank is emptied, the feed lines are flushed, fresh fuel goes in and the system is primed and run.
- Done, and the waste leaves with us Under a waste transfer note. It is not tipped and it is not sold back to you.

The pattern across 2,190 reviews
An average of 4.8 on Trustpilot. Positive reviews describe relief — someone arrived sooner than expected and treated an embarrassing error as routine, because for us it is.
Negative reviews describe sticker shock. So the sticker is here: £89 to £199 call-out, £199 to £1,999 drain, and you hear your own figure on the phone, with time to decide, before anyone drives out.
Questions we get asked
What if I have already driven it?
Still call. Most vehicles driven a short distance are recoverable. Tell us how far you got, because it changes the kit we bring.
Do I need to stay with the vehicle?
Usually yes, so we can hand it back to you running. If you cannot stay, say so on the call and we will work out how to do it.
Is there an out-of-hours surcharge?
The call-out is the call-out. Whatever the total is, you hear it on the phone before anyone travels.
Can I just top it up with the right fuel?
No. Dilution does not fix contamination, and driving to a filling station to try it is the mile that turns a drain into a repair.
